Retablos are true Peruvian folk art. They originally depicted carved and painted sculptures of religious figures and were displayed in rural churches as alters.  Today the boxes take the form of three dimensional scenes of daily life in Peru such as markets, shops, harvests, weddings and other ceremonies.

Charming but sloppily made

I love the retablo, but the platform the musicians stand on is so warped that both ends bend up so far the musicians are crowded in on themselves. Plus the hook in the back is so small you can't hang it. Wish you guys had looked carefully at it before you shipped it out.
