Our collection of Nicaraguan Pottery comes from San Juan de Oriente. These decor vases are handmade and decorated with the flora and fauna of Nicaragua. Working with the fair trade organization Esperanza en Accion, men and women artisans in Nicaragua produce traditional pottery pieces that are world renowned. Artisans in San Juan de Oriente make the pottery using a manual kick wheel and finish the pieces using natural mineral oxides for the earthen colors. The pottery is fired using a low-temperature technique so the vases are decorative as they do not hold water.

Hello! I love your video of production of the ceramics of Loma Panda and San Juan de Oriente! We will open a ceramic exhibition of the artisans of San Juan de Oriente (including Guadalupe and Juan Paulino among many others :) here in Finland on December 15, 2018. It will be organized in the Craft Museum of Finland in Jyvaskyla, 4 hours north from Helsinki. http://www.craftmuseum.fi/ Together with a Finnish ceramic artist Heini Riitahuhta. All the works will be hopefully sold and the money sent directly to the artisans. I was wondering, could you send us the video (for the part of San Juan de Oriente), to be used By the museum? I could ask the curator to ask it directly :)
Wishing you a wonderful day and thank you for everything you do!!
With best regards, Paula
